August, 2007

Dear Parents/Guardians;

Welcome back to the start of a new school year.  I think all of us share the excitement and optimism associated with new beginnings.  Upon arrival, we will become reacquainted with friends and colleagues, design programs and assemblies to facilitate student transition from their summer mode, welcome new staff and students and provide our seventh grade students with an orientation program designed to help them feel more at ease here at Gelinas.

The teaching staff, the department chairs, the PTSA, Mr.. Santana and I have been busy developing plans for the 2007-2008 school year.  Gelinas is a school rich in tradition and strong in academic performance.  We believe in working together to provide students with quality learning experiences that promote thinking, reasoning, decision-making and problem-solving.  We also believe in our obligation to be responsive to the social and emotional needs typical of our young adolescent population.  Together, we work hard at developing a student centered learning environment, one that promotes healthy growth and inspires lifelong learning.

At Gelinas, our collective goal is to continually challenge ourselves to provide a quality education to all of our students.  We expect our students to soar to new heights and ready themselves to take on future challenges.

I extend my best wishes to all for a successful and rewarding school year, one full of discovery and new learning.

Enjoy the remaining days of your summer vacation!

Yours truly,

Gustave M. Hueber
